Enchanted 10K Recap

I left off my last #PrincessHalf weekend recap with finishing my first runDisney 5K!

After the race was over I immediately headed to the expo to pick up my Glass Slipper Challenge bib and Samantha's bib for her Kids Race the following day.  I got to the expo a little before 9am to find that it was already open but not crowded at all.  Sitting in corral Friday morning at the 5K I managed to secure an online sign-up spot for the coveted runDisney New Balance shoes, and received my text message that it was my turn as I was entering the packet pick-up area.  There were NO lines for packet pick-up whatsoever so I quickly grabbed Samantha's and my bib (I might have cried when I picked hers up, so proud of my girl running her first race!) and also my race shirts, as they were also in the hp Field House.  I made a quick pit stop to try them on before I left since the shirt swap area was right there, but thankfully my size mediums fit so I threw them in the bag and headed across the way to the Josten's Center to the New Balance line and with very little wait, picked up a pair of the new Minnie Shoes for myself and Samantha.  I also picked up just about everything I had wanted in the official merch area, as well as my PHM Dooney & Bourke purse that I had purchased in advance (which I'm glad I did because they ran out!).

In true #bloggerfail fashion, I neglected to take any pics at the expo.  In all actuality, I looked like crap and I was in commando mode trying to get done so I hope you forgive me.  I DID grab a pic of these cute buttons they were giving out at the runDisney booth!

After a shower we had a fab lunch at Beaches and Cream, which I will tell you about later, and then I met the DisBroads for a surprise fireworks cruise for DisBroad Patty (since it was her birthday, I'll let her tell you all about it here!), then I caught a taxi back to the Boardwalk and laid out Flat Kristen for the next morning's Inaugural Enchanted 10K!

My alarm yet again went off at 2:30am Saturday morning and I was up and running!  Thanks to our friend Dr. Laura who did a smashing tape job on my foot after our cruise the night before, my foot was feeling up to the task of 6.2 miles through Epcot and the Boardwalk area.  I hopped on the first bus and met the DisBroads in the staging area.

And then it happened.  I was fan girl'd y'all.  And not just once.  Not just twice.  Talking, like, 6 or 7 times!  People kept stopping and asking for our pictures!!!  Am I famous???!!! No, it probably had something to do with the #PoppinsPosse, our group outfit of choice for the first part of the Glass Slipper Challenge.

We had two Mary's, 2 Sister Suffragates, and 4 chimney sweeps.  And we looked fab, if I do say so myself.

Our plan was to stick together for this one so off to corral C we went, getting cheers along the way and occasional picture requests.  The corrals released much like the day before at the 5K so the next thing we knew, we were at the starting line!

Most of the first 3 miles were pretty uneventful.  We headed out of the Epcot parking area, did an out and back, and then entered Epcot back in the World Showcase.  There were a few picture stops during this time but we did not stop.  They did have Elsa from the now Academy Award winning movie "Frozen" but she was on an overpass (where it was snowing - nice touch runDisney) and the pic I got of her was too blurry #sadz.  I think if they had made her a character stop along the route it would have backed things up fo sho but it was nice to see her on the course.  Entering the backstage Epcot area we ran into the Toy Soldiers from the Christmas parade so we stopped for a pic!

Into Epcot we came and followed the same route around the World Showcase that we had taken the morning before.  Once again, Epcot was beautiful first thing in the morning!  Before heading down to the Boardwalk area we caught a pic with Marie from the Aristocats!

As we were coming up on the ESPN restaurant we saw a big line - it was Goofy!  This was a necessary  stop and luckily a few of the slower broads caught up to us so we could get a fabulous group picture!!

Thanks DisBroad Amy for sharing your pic!!

We rounded by my hotel (we actually ran right by my room but my fam wasn't out to see us - #chearsquadfail) and then over by the Yacht and Beach Club before heading back over the International Gateway and back into Epcot, where this time we finished running the World Showcase and headed towards the front of the park to the finish line!

The crowd presence picked up as we approached the front of the park and I thought about stopping at the new Starbucks for an iced coffee (imagine the finisher pics that would make!) but alas, we pressed forward to the finish and crossed at 1:48.

We then collected our bracelets to prove we had finished the 10K so that we could collect our Glass Slipper Challenge medals after the half the next morning!

We had such a fun morning and I hated to say goodbye to my friends but they were off for a celebration breakfast and I was sticking around for THE most important event of the weekend - Samantha's Kids Race!!  Stay tuned for my recap of that!!!
