The Smiths Do The Boardwalk

I  might have mentioned that the Smiths are heading to Disney World in February for the Princess Half Marathon!

But what I didn't tell you is that we are taking advantage of our new DVC membership and staying at the Boardwalk Villas!!

We were originally booked at Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa but got bumped to our waitlist at the Boardwalk last week!  The Smiths have never stayed in the Boardwalk area so I had a lot of research to do and thought I'd share some of our plans with you!!

When I first found out we were staying at the Boardwalk I knew that Beaches and Cream Soda Shop was going to be on our must do list!  We had originally planned to go to Beaches and Cream during our vacation last year and it never happened, so needless to say I am overdue for a Kitchen Sink!!

GET IN MEH BELLY

Beaches and Cream is located at the Beach Club Resort, a short walk or boat ride from the Boardwalk.

Another thing we are looking forward to during our Boardwalk stay is a trip to Fantasia Gardens and Fairways Miniature Golf Course.  I know what you're thinking - Kristen, mini golf - at Disney???  Yup!!!  If you recall from my marathon weekend recap, we are always looking for new things to do at the Walt Disney Resort and we've never done mini golf!  It's a short walk from the Boardwalk and something you can do without having to purchase a park ticket for the day.  Winner winner chicken dinner!

Speaking of dinner...

I am also looking forward to taking in the ambiance of the Boardwalk area, visiting places like the Boardwalk Bakery (which just re-opened after a refurb), the Pizza Window, and Seashore Sweets.  Being from the south, I have never been to real Boardwalk but I hear that Disney has done an excellent job at making it feel like the real thing!

Doesn't that look awesome???!!!

Another "new to us" thing on our to do list is eating at Cape May Cafe, another restaurant at the Beach Club.  I have secured us a reservation for breakfast after the half marathon and I know my girls are going to love it - you know why???

You guess it - they have Minnie!!!  Well, not just Minnie, but Cape May Cafe hosts a character buffet breakfast.  My girls will DIE.  I'm keeping that part a secret so mums the word, mkay??  I also have breakfast booked for the morning we leave at Kouzzina, Cat Cora's restaurant.  I have heard it's excellent!

We're doing more than just eating though folks.  I might have mentioned I'm doing a little running..... ;)  I also plan to spend more than my fair share of time at this:

See that slide???!!!  We will have to pry Samantha away from it, kicking and screaming no doubt!

Oh, and perhaps we'll visit the Magic Kingdom for a bit while we're there...

Lots of fun to be had on our trip!!!  I can't wait!

QOTD:  Have you ever stayed at the Boardwalk??  Give me some tips and suggestions!!!

  1. I love the Boardwalk! And I love the Luna Park Pool! There's something about that water slide that makes me giddy. There are so many yummy things at the Boardwalk Bakery, too! I could eat all 3 meals there. If you like seafood, another favorite is Cape May dinner at The Beach Club. We haven't done Cape May breakfast yet, but I hope to next year with the kids when we stay at the Beach Club Villas. The porch is lovely, too at BW. And you can walk to DHS and Epcot! Ah, the location. So jealous!

  7. We have stayed at the Boardwalk a few times and you are going to love it. It's such a great location. Kouzzina is delicious. The character breakfast at Cape May Cafe is fun.

If you want a heavenly celebratory dinner, I would recommend heading over to the Italian restaurant in the Swan. One of the best meals I've had in Orlando.

    Enjoy!
