In addition to being National Breast Cancer awareness month and National Infant and Pregnancy Loss Awareness Month (I'll talk about that more soon), it's also a big month for us pharmacists! October is American Pharmacists Month!
Each year in October we celebrate American Pharmacists Month to recognize the vital contributions that pharmacists make to advanced medical care and safe medication use. Here is the statement from the American Pharmacists Association regarding American Pharmacists Month:
Pharmacists are experts in helping patients get the most out of today's complicated medications. They are an integrated member of the health care team and are directly involved in patient care. Pharmacists advise patients and health care providers on the selection, dosages, interactions, and side effects of medications. Pharmacists have a significant role in assessing medication management in patients, and in referring patients to physicians, as they are often the first point-of-contact for patients with health inquiries.
Did you know your pharmacist did all that???
I challenge all of you to take the time this month to get to know your pharmacist better! Perhaps, while they give you your flu shot?? Yup, we can do that too!!!
QOTD: Feel free to share a story about your favorite pharmacist!!! I always like to hear how we make a difference :)
