Five for Friday

Happy Friday y'all!  Sorry it's been quiet around here the past few days - Miss Morgan hasn't been feeling to well so I finally broke down and took her to the pediatrician yesterday.  Poor thing absolutely HATES taking a nebulizer treatment but we will be doing it for a few days to see if we can get her back to her usual self.  I am pleased to report that my #switchinggears half marathon training is still going very well!  So I'll start of my Five for Friday with a countdown:

1.  Two weeks from TODAY I will be en route to Disney World for the Wine and Dine Half Marathon!!  I am SO very excited to be running with the DisBroads and earning this gorgeous medal.

I am still taking donations for the Christopher DeRemer Memorial Fund, the charity I am running for for this race.  Please consider giving a donation to this great from-the-heart cause!  I'll make it really easy for ya - just click here:

2.  I snuck another race into my schedule!

Tomorrow was supposed to be a rest day for me but the Arlington 5K is tomorrow; it benefits the Arlington Education Foundation, a non-profit organization established to raise awareness of educational needs amongst the Arlington schools, parents, business, and community.  Their purpose is to promote academic excellence within schools in the Arlington community by funding educational opportunities above and beyond that which are provided by the regular school and system budgets.  With Samantha in school now, this cause hits close to home, and I am happy to be lacing up tomorrow morning to run for a great cause.  I won't be full on "racing", since I'm supposed to be resting, but I'm sure it will be lots of fun and I hope to see several friends there!

3.  November means birthday central at the Smith House!!!  Morgan turns two NEXT Saturday (egads, where has the time gone???) and Samantha will turn 6 the following Thursday.  Holy cow, my babies aren't babies anymore, are they???!!!  Next Saturday is Morgan's birthday.  We are celebrating her turning the big T-W-O with a Minnie Mouse theme.  Our house will be decked out in red, black, and white!  Then, two weeks later we will celebrate Samantha's birthday with 20+ of her "closest friends" at Memphis Point Gymnastics.  We have been there for a few birthday parties and after each one she would BEG me to have her birthday party there, so she is getting her wish :)  I like how easy MPG makes it on the parent; I just bring pizza and cupcakes and the birthday kid - they do the rest, including making the invitations!!!  And did I mention I don't have to clean my house or pick up afterwards???  Yeah, you know it.  I can't wait to report back on both parties!

4.  When I was in Nashville a few weeks ago for the Women's Half Marathon I learned about a new event at their expo - the Hot Chocolate 15/5K!  Tell me who out there wouldn't want to run for chocolate??!!!  This race sounds like a dream - yummy chocolate goodies (fondue, I'm looking at you!) await you and the "goodie bag" - a gorgeous fleece made with wicking material, perfect for getting out on a chilly morning!  This race is coming to Nashville in February and I cannot wait to be a part of it!  As a matter of fact, I have applied to be an ambassador for the race and hope to spread the Hot Chocolate excitement with all of you - so stay tuned and keep your fingers crossed for me!

5.  And lastly, how about a Friday funny to get you through to the weekend??

QOTD:  Anyone else have a November birthday???
