Tales of the Room Mom - Harvest Party Prep

At kindergarten curriculum night I signed up to be a room mother helper for Samantha's class.  I wanted to be involved somehow but I couldn't take the lead because of work, but I figured every little thing I could do would still make a difference.  On Monday night we had a meeting at the school of all the room parents and their helpers to discuss the rules and to get our calendar of duties.  It was neat to get to meet the other parents on the "team" for this year, and we had some time to discuss our first assignments!

Our first duty is actually to decorate the door to the classroom for Red Ribbon week in October.  Red ribbon week is devoted to drug awareness and teaching the kids how to say no to drugs.  We spent the majority of our time discussing our ideas for the door design and I cannot wait to come back and share pictures with you because it's going to be awesome!

Our next duty is actually the Harvest Party on October 31st.

NOTE it's a harvest party, NOT a Halloween party.  They prefer we don't have a theme including ghosts, witches, and the like.  We talked briefly about this and decided that we would have 4 stations set up with an activity for the kids to rotate through and each of us was to come up with an idea for a station.  I decided to go with some sort of Harvest word search activity for my station.  HELLO Pinterest...

I have set up a Pinterest board to help me collect ideas.  Do you follow me on Pinterest??  You should!  I have a few pinned there now to get started but I'd LOVE it if you shared your ideas with me!  I know some of you out there are very creative!!!

I am looking forward to being a part of the "room mom team" this year and I'll be sure to share all the activities here with you!

QOTD:  Have an idea for a Harvest Party activity?  Leave me tips, links, etc. in the comments!
