Dumbo Training: Week 12 and the 30 Day Ab Challenge

Happy Friday!  I know I promised you last week I would fill you in on the 30 Day Ab Challenge that I have been doing and I always keep my word, but first, I have to share with you this week's Dumbo training!

For the love of all that is good in this world can this race not hurry up and get here???!!!!!  As of yesterday our trip is completely paid for with the exception of food so now I just gotta get there and enjoy every minute of it!!!  Here's how the training went this week:

Dumbo Double Dare Training:  Week 12

Tuesday:  45 minute run - 4.18 miles at a 10:45 min/mile pace.  I had to work the evening shift on Tuesday so I took advantage and got my run done in the morning.  It was already really sunny out and got a little toasty but otherwise I was pleased.

Thursday:  45 minute run 30 minute run - 3.03 miles at a 9:54 min/mile pace.  Well, life got in the way last night and I had to cut my run short so I had to make it worth it.  I guess you could call this a tempo run of sorts?  Regardless, it was awesome.

Saturday:  3 mile walk.  I will be getting up a tad early to do this tomorrow morning because Owen has to work but I'd like to do it outside.  Sleeping in is overrated anyways :)

Sunday:  11 mile run.  This will be the doozy I'm sure.  Again, I will try to be hitting the pavement by 7am to get most of it done before the heat and direct sun try to do me in.  I'm also thinking of alternate routes to take to avoid some of the hills I had on my 9.5 miler two weeks ago.  Regardless I am looking forward to it and hope to see improvement in my time.

Monday was my usual elliptical workout plus strength training using Nike Training Club and then Wednesday I let Jillian torture me yet again with her Kickboxing Fast Fix video followed by some more strength training using Sworkit.  Today is my rest day for the week, but it's not a complete rest day because there's this 30 day ab challenge thing I've been doing.....here's the schedule folks if you're interested in giving it a try:

I'm not gonna lie, this thing is hard and sometimes I cheat on the sit-ups.  I started breaking it down into sets to make it easier but it's definitely doable (otherwise I wouldn't be doing it, of all people).  I'm anxious to see the results!  I am currently on day 19 so today I will do 85 sit-ups, 120 crunches, 50 leg raises, and a 75 second plank.  Oh good gravy...

That wraps up Fitness Friday!  I leave you with this motivation for the weekend:

QOTD:  Anyone else going to join me in doing the 30 day ab challenge???!!!  Come on, all the cool kids are doing it ;)
