Thursday's Random Thoughts

I didn't have any one thing in particular that I wanted to talk about today, so how about a bunch of random Thursday thoughts??


Any basketball fans out there??

Our Memphis Tigers are playing today vs. St. Mary's.  I happened to notice that President Obama has picked Memphis to win:

Not sure that I agree completely with his choices since he has Memphis losing to Michigan St. but we will give him the benefit of the doubt.  I was raised on U of M basketball (back in the MidSouth Coliseum days folks!) so I of course will be keeping tabs on todays game.  Go Tigers!

Tonight marks the start of Samantha's spring soccer season and once again Coach Dad is taking the helm of the team.  With Thursday evening practices resuming this week I decided to get up early this morning and hit my treadmill for today's run - my first since the half this past weekend.  I took it easy with an 11:43 min/mile average pace while watching one of my guilty pleasures on the iPad - Dancing With the Stars.

I hate to say this because I love Cheryl Burke but I think they might get the boot next week....anywho, moving on.

After getting up VERY early to accomplish said run on the treadmill I decided that I deserved a tall blonde roast from Starbucks with a pump of vanilla and some cream - my new favorite 'bucks treat.  I am a serious coffee snob and this is GOOD stuff - and doesn't break the bank.  You should try it.
Still on the topic of running I have really been trying to be good with my strength training during the week and last night I did an aerobics video and some additional strength training afterwards.  I know that cross-training will help to build my strength and endurance but sometimes I don't give it the priority it deserves.  However, after watching Monday's Biggest Loser finale I am re-committing to the strength training portion of my workouts.  I mean, who wouldn't want to look as good as Danni??

 I am even considering finding a running coach to build a training plan for me to include strength training.  The jury is still out on that one though so more for that at another time...

Anyone have big plans this weekend?  I have to work but at least I won't be missing out on nice weather because it's supposed to be cold and rainy here in Memphis this weekend.  I thought it was spring already???  I think Mother Nature missed the memo...
