Advocare 24 Day Challenge

I haven't really talked much about my weight here on the blog because let's face it - while I know it's just a number on the scale, it's a number that still means a lot to me and is a lot higher than I'd like it to be.  I hit a plateau back in September that I just cannot seem to get over.  You'd think that even training for a marathon would bump me over the hill but no, it actually made it worse.

I kept reading on Facebook about people doing this Advocare 24 day challenge and I wondered - does it really work?  A friend of mine from pharmacy school is an Advocare distributor and once she told me about the success her husband had with it I decided it was worth a shot.


I ordered the kit and when it came I was so anxious to get started but I had to wait until after the marathon to start because I knew my body needed the carbs to fuel for the race.  We got back from Disney on Monday, January 14th and I began the challenge the next day.

The first 10 days is a "cleansing" phase and the main focus here is to rid your body of toxins, not necessarily lose weight.  I am pleased though that I managed to lose a pound during the first phase and - here's the big shocker - I lost a half an inch in BOTH my waist and hips.  Woo hoo!!!  I took a full week off from exercise after the marathon so those results were without the added benefit of exercise.  I cannot wait to see what results the "max" phase will bring!  I am currently on day 13 so 11 more days to go!
