2012: The Year in Review

Morgan turned 2 months old and my maternity leave officially ended - I headed back to work January 2nd!  I began the Couch 2 5K program and set my sights on running the Disney Princess Half Marathon in February 2013 (this is funny now that I'm reading this - oh well, go big or go home!)

I signed up for my first 5K after having Morgan (only to get injured and spend a month in PT and not be able to participate).  Morgan spent her first Valentine's Day with conjunctivitis :(  BUT - she slept all night for the first time this month!!

I graduated from the C25K program and began Jeff Galloway's 10K training program - only to fall behind right away when I injured myself and had to take a month off.  Morgan had her first major illness - bronchiolitis, and we had our first exposure to nebulizer treatments.  I signed up for the Earth Day 5K to make myself feel better about missing the 5K for Freedom.

Morgan celebrated her first Easter and I FINALLY got to run a 5K!  I also registered for the Disney marathon this month!!!

Morgan got her first tooth and Samantha participated in her third dance recital.  I became FULL of crazy as I registered for the St. Jude marathon.

We took our first family vacation on a long weekend trip to the lake.  It was Morgan's first boat ride!!  I ran my first 10K and we completed our 10K training and began Jeff Galloway's marathon training program.

Owen and I celebrated our 8 year anniversary this month while we are on the family trip to South Carolina.  Samantha gave us a scare with an allergy attack and we ended up at the Spartanburg General Emergency Room at 1:30am on our anniversary.  Both girls got to eat their first meal at the famous Beacon.

August was a BIG month in the Smith house!  We started off with Samantha taking swim lessons at the YMCA which she loved.  We had the 2 year Angel-versary of our first angel baby (hard to believe it's been 2 years...).  Samantha started pre-K this month - I am still in denial that she will go to kindergarten next year!  Morgan was baptized - AND - I turned the BIG 3-2!

As if August wasn't big enough - we started September off with a BANG - our trip to Disney World!  And yes, for the record, I still know I have yet to share our pics from that trip - I'm sorry!!!  If that wasn't enough traveling, two weeks after we got home we headed to Nashville for me to run in my first half marathon - I finished in 2:30!!

I became an aunt when my sister gave birth to her first child, Addison Marie, on October 3rd.  I participated in The Color Run 5K and got disgustingly filthy :)  We took the girls to the pumpkin patch and then Samantha's pre-K class went on their first ever field trip to the same pumpkin patch about a week later.  Then, after one of my long training runs I suffered another injury to my right foot and ended up in a boot for 2 weeks - enough to squash my hopes of running the St. Jude full marathon.  We ended the month by celebrating Halloween - Samantha was Rapunzel and Morgan was her ladybug sidekick.

On November 2nd we celebrated our rainbow baby's first birthday!  Hard to believe she's a year old already.  Then 5 days later we celebrated Samantha's 5th birthday - now that one really blows my socks off - how did she get so big so fast???  I served my week of jury duty the following week and was actually seated on a trial - seeing the justice system in action is actually pretty interesting.  We celebrated Thanksgiving and I ran the Turkey Trot 4 Miler that morning - what a great race, I was so pleased with my time!

I started this month off by running the St. Jude Half Marathon - I was a tad disappointed that I was unable to run the full thanks to my time in the boot but I was at least happy I still got to participate.  Christmas activities picked up full swing!  We took the girls to Starry Nights (where I ran the Starry 4K and had a great time running through all the lights) and Zoo Lights and ended the month with a wonderful Christmas celebration.  Santa was very good to our girls this year!  As soon as Christmas ended I began focusing my energies on my next race - the Disney Marathon - which is coming up in just 9 days!

Wow, what a year!  I am looking forward to what 2013 has in store for us!!!
