Being Thankful

Happy 2011!

The first few days of the new year have been rough for me.  I am coping with some personal struggles and find myself distracted and not able to focus.  We learned in church on Sunday to give what weighs on our hearts to God and let him take care of it.

Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.--Psalm 55:22

I decided today in an effort to pull myself out of this slump that I would think about a few things that I am thankful for, and I'd like to share them with you.

1.  I am thankful for my daughter.

We still may not fully understand what is behind our recurrent pregnancy losses, but one thing I am certain of is that I already have one beautiful, healthy little girl who means the world to me.  And even if we are unable to be blessed with anymore children, we will still have her and for that I am eternally thankful.

2.  I am thankful for my job.

In this economy especially, I am thankful for my career and having a job that not only puts food on the table and a roof over our heads, but also provides us the means to do extra things that we enjoy.  My boss is great and my team works hard.  I have great hours, I'm not on my feet all day, and I get breaks and lunches (which are a hot commodity in the profession of pharmacy).

3.  I am thankful for my friends.

TRUE, GOOD friends are hard to come by.  And with the trying times I have experienced lately (and continue to experience), and I am especially thankful for having those true, good friends.  They are a God send.

I resolve that I am going to try to worry less about the things I cannot control and continue to give those worries to God to take care of for me.  That will leave me with more time to be thankful for the many blessings in my life.
